Senior Staff Software Engineer

Salary: £67,000 - 107,000 per year

Requirements:

• Deep Java expertise combined with hands-on experience building scalable distributed systems on AWS
• Proven experience working on agentic AI systems, including building or leading features in this space and understanding how to test and scale them
• Technical leadership experience, such as serving as a tech lead, influencing architecture decisions, and helping other engineers grow
• Ability to communicate complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Full stack capability is a strong plus, particularly React, TypeScript, and Tailwind
• Familiarity with frameworks like Langchain or Langgraph would be welcome
• Adaptable and fast-moving, with comfort in environments where requirements evolve and ambiguity is common

Responsibilities:

• Lead technical architecture and design for the Maia team across two squads, defining direction, validating proposals, and ensuring scalable, maintainable software is built at pace
• Drive agentic AI feature development by building new tools, integrations, and workflows
• Stay ahead of developments in Gen AI by trialling new models, tools, and approaches and feeding insights into team strategy
• Act as a technical mentor and coach to engineers across the team through code reviews, design input, and hands-on guidance
• Collaborate closely with our Product Manager and Data Science team to translate product vision into technical reality while balancing innovation, code quality, and delivery pace
