Senior Software Engineer

Salary: £71,000 - 71,000 per year

Requirements:

• Senior-level software engineering experience with strong engineering fundamentals
• Experience building or shipping features using LLMs, agents, embeddings, or similar AI tooling
• Ability to think in systems and design for long-term maintainability, including AI/LLM pipelines
• Strong applied AI/ML judgment and a learning mindset
• Comfortable collaborating early on ambiguous problems where the right approach is not obvious
• Comfortable mentoring others and sharing knowledge
• Adaptable and excited to learn new AI techniques, models, and domains

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and ship end-to-end AI-powered features for a new product
• Turn ambiguous problems into well-designed, scalable AI-powered systems
• Build high-quality LLM-driven features from prototype to production
• Design and integrate agentic workflows, retrieval systems, and model-orchestration pipelines
• Deliver AI solutions that make a measurable difference for customers
• Work across the stack, with a strong focus on backend APIs and services for AI/LLM-driven functionality in expenses and procurement
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Designers to shape technical and AI strategy
• Develop and evolve scalable backend APIs, microservices, and LLM-orchestration layers
• Build robust evaluation frameworks to test and improve model performance and reliability
• Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code, including around probabilistic/AI components
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and pair programming
• Mentor junior engineers and help raise engineering and AI-quality standards
• Contribute to a team culture of continuous learning and shared success
