Senior QA Engineer

Salary: £60,000 - 100,000 per year

Requirements:

• We are looking for a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
• We require 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance.
• We need strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
• We require experience leading or coordinating testing activities across software projects.
• We need experience analysing requirements, assessing testing risks, estimating testing effort, and defining test approaches.
• We require experience creating and maintaining formal, auditable testing documentation in contractual, client-facing, or regulated delivery environments.
• We need strong hands-on experience developing and maintaining test automation using Playwright and TypeScript.
• We require experience testing web applications, APIs, and integrated systems.
• We need experience writing and executing SQL queries, with the ability to understand database structures and interrogate data for validation and analysis.
• ISTQB certification or equivalent is desirable.
• Experience testing within an Intelligent Transport Systems environment is desirable.
• Experience implementing test automation within CI/CD pipelines is desirable.
• Experience working within regulated or contractual delivery environments is desirable.
• Experience using AI-assisted tools to improve testing, automation and the software delivery process is desirable.

Responsibilities:

• We collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to understand requirements, identify risks and define appropriate test approaches.
• We produce test estimates and contribute to project planning and delivery activities.
• We create and maintain formal testing artefacts, including Test Strategies, Test Plans, Test Specifications, and Test Reports, aligned with contractual and regulatory delivery requirements.
• We ensure appropriate test coverage through risk-based testing, requirements traceability, and quality assurance best practices.
• We develop, maintain, and enhance automated test suites and supporting frameworks using Playwright and TypeScript.
• We identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency and coverage through automation, tooling, process improvements and AI-assisted solutions.
