Salary: £61,000 - 101,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Around 6 or more years of relevant experience.
  • A degree in a quantitatively rigorous field such as computer science, data science, econometrics, mathematics, or physics.
  • Strong systems thinking and the ability to build for scale.
  • Experience with production troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Strong data modelling skills, including designing cross-functional data products, establishing data contracts, and handling complex business rules.
  • Advanced SQL skills, including window functions, query optimization, and MERGE/UPSERT operations.
  • Strong Python and PySpark skills.
  • Deep experience with Databricks, including Declarative Pipelines, DABS, Delta Lake, Spark optimization, and job orchestration.
  • Familiarity with the Azure ecosystem.
  • Working understanding of Unity Catalog.
  • Strong written communication and documentation skills.
  • Driven and curious mindset, with a desire to work on unsolved problems.
  • Nice-to-have experience with agentic data engineering.
  • Nice-to-have experience with geospatial data processing.
  • Nice-to-have experience with recursive CTEs and complex SQL patterns.
  • Nice-to-have infrastructure familiarity with Azure Portal, resource management, and CLI.
  • Nice-to-have strong Git workflows and code review habits.
  • Nice-to-have real estate domain experience.
Responsibilities:
  • Drive the shift from a code-writing team to an AI orchestration team.
  • Build agentic workflows that handle data engineering tasks and CI/CD.
  • Design semantic models for downstream consumption.
  • Implement an AI Gateway for governance.
  • Steward our AI-amplified Databricks-based framework and improve it incrementally as we learn.
  • Design data models that bring sources from anywhere in the world into a single coherent shape.
  • Build data solutions for domains like custom MDM, geocoding, client mastering, and profiling.
  • Design and implement stable, automated ingestion pipelines from diverse sources.
  • Own production troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Diagnose and resolve pipeline failures, performance issues, and data quality problems systematically.
  • Report on data quality and ship improvements that move the numbers.

This is a hands-on senior role on key transformation projects across EMEA and APAC, working directly with the team lead and a group of analytical engineers in London, United Kingdom.
