QA Automation Engineer

Salary: £60,000 - 65,000 per year

Requirements:

• At least 5 years experience in software testing, including 2 or more years focused on test automation.
• Strong experience creating and maintaining automation frameworks.
• Hands-on knowledge of end-to-end automation tools, ideally Cypress.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
• Good understanding of performance testing, API testing, UX/UI testing, BDD and TDD approaches.
• Working knowledge of JSON, SQL and modern software testing practices.
• Experience working in an Agile environment.
• Comfort using AI tools to support testing activities, with the judgement to review and validate AI generated output.
• Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience testing or reconciling financial systems, reports, payroll or auto enrolment systems.
• Skills in Java, JavaScript or Python.
• Knowledge of automated API or endpoint testing, ideally REST-assured.
• Experience with microservice testing.
• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.

Responsibilities:

• Create, maintain and develop robust automation frameworks.
• Design automated testing architecture and expand automated test coverage using Cypress or other agreed tools.
• Execute system, integration, regression, functional, interface, acceptance, performance, API and security testing.
• Use tools such as Jira, TestRail and Confluence to manage defects, test assets and documentation.
• Analyse business requirements and translate them into effective test strategies and plans.
• Explore practical AI-driven testing approaches, including AI assisted test case generation, test data creation, result analysis and visual or regression checks.
• Work closely with developers and QA colleagues to troubleshoot issues, improve processes and support knowledge sharing across the team.
