Job Description

Salary: £60,000 - 60,000 per year

Requirements:
  • We have 8+ years of deep, hands-on experience delivering platform or infrastructure programs as a technical program manager, including compute, ML infra, developer tooling, training or inference systems, as well as people and process leadership.
  • We have built or scaled a program function and bring ownership with a bias for action.
  • We have people leadership experience and can build, coach, and grow high-performing teams while raising the bar on the craft.
  • We are highly technical and credible with engineers across ML infrastructure, compute, and embedded systems, even if we do not write production code.
  • We have a strong understanding of machine learning, GPUs, and the training and inference of large 500M-20B+ parameter models, plus the compute and orchestration that support them.
  • We have embedded / on-vehicle systems experience, including inference optimisation, model deployment to constrained edge / embedded compute, and the associated hardware-software trade-offs.
  • We are familiar with compute management and ML platform tooling such as Kubernetes, Ray, Flyte, Docker, cloud Azure, Python, and model-development / experiment workflow tooling.
  • We are proficient with AI agents to accelerate execution, such as Cursor, Claude, and Codex.
  • We stay neutral and adapt under pressure in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
  • We have strong systems thinking and understand how changes in one part of a complex platform ripple into others.
  • We are product-minded and focus on outcomes, prioritising by impact and defining what good looks like.
  • We have exceptional cross-functional leadership skills and can align and influence across ML / research, infrastructure, embedded, and engineering without relying on authority.
  • We connect platform investment to measurable business outcomes such as developer velocity, compute efficiency, cost, and model performance.
  • We are clear, data-driven communicators who set direction with the right metrics.
  • We have a growth mindset and are open to feedback.
  • Desirable: We have experience working with a large-scale ML / compute platform used by hundreds of engineers and researchers.
  • Desirable: We have embedded / edge inference, on-device model optimisation, or hardware-aware ML experience.
  • Desirable: We have a background in autonomous vehicles, robotics, or another large-scale ML / infrastructure program.
  • Desirable: We have an engineering or computer science degree, or experience working as an engineer.
Responsibilities:
  • We build, coach, and grow a small TPM team, including hiring to fill gaps and raise the bar.
  • We own platform delivery by partnering with AI Platform leadership on planning, prioritisation, and execution across the roadmap.
  • We act as a trusted partner for Engineering leadership to land big outcomes and hold leaders accountable.
  • We drive flagship programs directly across data and compute infrastructure, model-development workflow and tooling, training technology, compute management, and embedded / inference optimisation.
  • We establish scalable practices, including planning cadences, governance, KPIs and dashboards, escalations, and operational reviews.
  • We align cross-functionally with ML / research, infrastructure, embedded, on-vehicle, engineering, and cloud / vendor partners, managing dependencies, risk, and trade-offs.
  • We connect delivery to outcomes such as developer velocity, compute efficiency and cost, and training / inference performance.
  • We represent AI Platform in company-level reviews.
