Job Description

Salary: £62,000 - 102,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Strong experience building and deploying production applications across the full stack
  • Proficiency in multiple languages, including Python and TypeScript/JavaScript; experience with Go or Java is a plus
  • Deep experience working with data, including building data pipelines, designing analytics systems, or creating data-driven products
  • Experience building user-facing features with modern frontend frameworks like React, Vue, or Angular
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases like Postgres
  • Experience building backend services and APIs that handle data at scale
  • Comfort with containerised environments and cloud infrastructure; we use OpenShift/Kubernetes
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and automation
  • Experience with data visualisation tools and techniques
  • Direct experience building evaluation or testing frameworks for AI/ML systems is a bonus
  • Experience with LLM evaluation techniques, prompt engineering, or AI safety concepts is a bonus
  • Experience with data pipeline tools like Apache Airflow, Dagster, or similar is a bonus
  • Experience with analytics platforms, experimentation frameworks, or A/B testing infrastructure is a bonus
  • Background in data science, analytics engineering, or similar data-focused roles is a bonus
  • Contributions to open-source projects in the data or AI space is a bonus
  • Experience working in highly regulated environments is a bonus
Responsibilities:
  • Design and build testing, evaluation, and feedback systems that help us understand how our AI assistant is performing in the real world
  • Create tools for our team and our users to provide feedback, analyse interactions, and measure quality
  • Build data pipelines that collect and process evaluation metrics
  • Create visualisations that surface insights to the team
  • Design APIs that power our testing infrastructure
  • Write SQL queries and build React components as needed
  • Take responsibility for features end to end, from problem definition through design, build, and measurement
  • Drive work forward with autonomy while keeping the team aligned
  • Help establish the data practices and evaluation frameworks that ensure Assist meets our high standards for quality, safety, and regulatory compliance
  • Influence how we approach problems and contribute to architectural decisions
  • Mentor other engineers and help establish best practices for how we work with data across the platform
  • Offer thoughtful code reviews, unblock peers, share learnings, and help raise the bar for the whole team

We are the Common Platform Engineering team for GenAI in the Chief Technology Office, building Citi Assist, the GenAI digital assistant for our colleagues, and providing the platforms and guidance that enable the organisation to adopt GenAI safely and effectively. This is a VP-level full-time role in London, England, United Kingdom, within a focused agile team that owns work from idea to production. We work with Python, TypeScript, Go, and Java on the backend; TypeScript, React, and Next.js on the frontend; Postgres for our database; and Kubernetes on Red Hat OpenShift, with GitHub and CI/CD tools like Tekton and Harness.
