Salary: £52,000 - 92,000 per year

Requirements:

• We are looking for a background as a software or DevOps engineer using languages and tools such as Java, Python, Kubernetes and Terraform, with strong understanding of cloud technologies, architectures and techniques.
• We are looking for experience designing and delivering solutions on Google Cloud, including serverless products such as Cloud Run, infrastructure such as Compute Engine and GKE, AI services such as Vertex AI, ADK or Agent Engine, and data services such as BigQuery, Spanner, Dataflow, Composer, Bigtable or CloudSQL.
• We value Google Certified Cloud Architect, Data Engineer or Cloud Developer-level qualification, although strong hands-on experience is equally valued.
• We are looking for experience working in an agile development team and applying practices such as agile sprints, architectural and software design patterns, scalability, high availability, disaster recovery, secure development, non-functional considerations, user story elaboration, story pointing, TDD and/or BDD, test automation, CI/CD, JIRA, code review, root cause analysis and troubleshooting.
• We are looking for familiarity with tools and languages such as Google Cloud SDK, SQL, Linux, PowerShell, Shell Scripting, HTML and CSS.
• We are looking for experience with databases such as Google Cloud Spanner, Firestore, Bigtable, BigQuery, MongoDB, MySQL, Flink, Cassandra, SQL Server and Postgres, including schema design to support business logic and data.
• We are looking for experience with microservices architecture, containers and serverless implementation, including Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, AWS Lambda and Cloud Functions.
• We are looking for experience with machine learning tools and techniques such as Auto ML, Tensorflow, Natural Language and Vision AI.
• We are looking for experience with common technology components including Google Cloud, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Kubernetes Engine, Compute Engine, VPCs, Cloud Spanner, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Dataflow, Apache Beam, Vertex AI, DialogFlow and Auto ML.
• We are looking for experience with architecture, microservices patterns, event-driven architectures, message queues, relational and non-relational databases, Java 17+, JavaScript, Python and SQL.
• We are looking for experience with common frameworks and APIs such as Spring Boot, Guice, Jersey, Node.js and Flask.
• We are looking for knowledge of the JVM, its limitations, weaknesses and workarounds.
• We are looking for experience with build tools such as Maven and Gradle.
• We are looking for experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and Google Cloud Build.
• We are looking for experience using a range of technologies and libraries in the Java ecosystem.

Responsibilities:

• We will ask you to help solve client problems involving legacy technology or processes by innovating and delivering fit-for-purpose solutions.
• As a technical lead, we may ask you to work solo or within a team to support successful delivery of a project release using an agile methodology.
• We will trust you and your team to meet deadlines and define ways of working that suit our clients.
• We will expect you to take ownership and control of the processes for taking your code into production.
• We will expect you to collaborate with our teams using DevOps and Test Automation practices.
• We will expect you to contribute to developing the team by sharing your expertise and mentoring teammates.
• As our Google Cloud Technical Lead, you will own the design and lead a team or effort.
• We will look to you to set technical direction and take responsibility for successfully achieving an outcome or deliverable.
• You may lead a development team or work across multiple teams, providing centralised expertise for a larger program of work.
• We will expect you to lead higher-level architectural discussions.
• You may own the overall development process across a team or multiple teams, building strong principles and robust methods and patterns.
• You will be a main point of engagement with clients and will have regular client conversations.
• Coaching and mentoring the team will be an important part of your role.
• You may shape proposals with a bid team and contribute to presentations to clients in formal selection processes.
• You will play an active role in account management.
