3 professional operations resume examples
Operations roles exist to make the business run faster, cheaper and more reliably, so your resume should read like a before-and-after report. Supply chain, logistics and operations analyst hiring managers want to see the processes you improved, the metrics you moved and the scale of the network you worked in.
Recruiters look for the size and type of operation: number of warehouses or plants, SKUs, shipment volume, suppliers or annual spend. They want proof that you can analyze a process, find the constraint and fix it, plus experience with the ERP and planning systems they run. Cross-functional work with finance, procurement and sales is a strong signal for senior roles.
Operations is full of hard metrics. Examples: "Raised on-time delivery from 87% to 97% across 3 distribution centers" or "Renegotiated freight contracts to save $620K a year." Inventory turns, order accuracy, cycle time, cost per unit, fill rate, safety incidents and forecast accuracy all show impact. Always pair the percentage with the baseline and scale.
APICS credentials from ASCM (CSCP, CPIM, CLTD) are the best-known supply chain certifications. Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt is valued across operations; PMP helps with project-heavy roles, and CPSM is useful for procurement. Forklift or safety certifications are worth listing for warehouse leadership positions.
