Vulnerability Researcher Internship

Salary: £30,500 - 50,500 per year

Requirements:

• A passion for cyber security and a genuine interest in bug hunting
• Familiarity with recent vulnerabilities
• A desire to thrive on solving difficult and complex problems
• Knowledge of vulnerability types such as stack/heap overflow and use-after-free, and common mitigations
• Familiarity with one or more high-level languages such as C, C++ or Java
• An active interest and foundation knowledge in several of the listed skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for working with others
• Interest in how software vulnerabilities and exploits work
• Basic scripting experience using Python
• Familiarity with the Linux operating system and working in the shell
• Participation in Capture the Flag (CTF) challenges
• A basic understanding of how computers communicate, including networking
• Experience with reverse engineering using Ghidra
• Interest in ethical hacking
• Familiarity with Android and adb shell
• Interest in hardware hacking

Responsibilities:

• Join our paid summer 2027 internship in our world-class research team
• Work closely with peers in small teams, usually two to three people
• Rapidly develop the skills needed to deliver bespoke research and capabilities for our trusted clients
• Take on intern projects designed to give direct insight into the work we deliver for clients
• Tackle real demands and as-yet unsolved technical challenges
• Contribute to research focused on the security of mobile and embedded technologies
• Use Ghidra for reverse engineering
• Produce proof of concepts in the most suitable language for the project, such as C, C++, Python or assembly code
• Demonstrate an inquisitive mindset while solving challenging research tasks
• Potentially progress to a 2028 graduate intake contract if you are going into your final year in 2027

We are partnering directly with CoreTech Security, a company focused on delivering high-end security research and bespoke solutions to some of the most interesting cyber security clients in the UK. Our team includes vulnerability researchers, reverse engineers, and high-assurance software engineers, and our research work primarily centers on the security of mobile and embedded technologies, with occasional work in other areas. This is a paid summer 2027 internship, and if you are going into your final year in 2027, you may be offered a contract for our 2028 graduate intake on completion of your internship.
