Site Reliability Engineer II (Hybrid, London)

Salary: £65,000 - 105,000 per year

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• At least five years of experience working in a large-scale production environment
• At least two years of experience in software engineering
• At least two years of experience with one or more of C++, Java, Python, or Go
• Experience with storage technologies such as SAN, NAS, NFS, object storage, FreeNAS, or iSCSI
• Experience with infrastructure technologies such as Linux, Windows, VMware, Docker, or Kubernetes
• Experience writing technical documentation
• Configuration management experience with one or more tools such as Puppet, Chef, or Ansible
• Solid understanding of application design and the operational trade-offs of different designs
• Analytical skills and a strong sense of urgency, ownership, and drive
• Ability to work effectively in a diverse, team-focused environment with SREs and engineers
• Ability to communicate and present reliability-team conventions broadly
• Proven experience using AI technologies to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows and processes, improve efficiency, and drive business outcomes

Responsibilities:

• Develop software-based automation and tooling to deliver mission-critical solutions and services for large-scale distributed systems
• Manage operational aspects of our platform, including availability, latency, throughput, monitoring, issue response, remediation, deployment, and capacity planning
• Participate in an on-call rotation with other team members
• Troubleshoot server hardware issues
• Help ensure our platform operates reliably 24/7
• Learn and share new technologies and practices to strengthen the teams technical expertise
• Build broad knowledge of our architecture and process flows
• Identify and deliver improvements through small development projects and occasional larger projects
• Gather and analyze operating-system and application metrics to support performance tuning and fault finding
• Lead incident analysis, champion incident-response practices, identify systemic problems, and drive incidents toward resolution
• Work with a globally distributed team of engineers
