Senior Analytics Engineer

Salary: £50,000 - 90,000 per year

Requirements:

• Experience as an analytics engineer or data analyst, with rounded experience in data modelling and engineering practices
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Strong business acumen and the judgment to challenge metric definitions so they reflect real business outcomes
• A practical, thoughtful approach to AI, with enthusiasm for governed, semantically modelled data and rigor in validation
• Strong SQL skills and production experience with dbt
• Production experience with a cloud data warehouse and Git-based, review-first workflows
• A track record of defining metrics with stakeholders and delivering outcomes people rely on
• Sound judgment about where business logic should live, such as in the semantic layer or BI layer
• Demonstrable interest in how AI is changing data analytics and in developing your own skills
• Nice to have: production experience with semantic-layer tooling
• Nice to have: experience with natural-language or AI analytics tools, such as Cortex Analyst, or preparing data for LLM consumption
• Nice to have: experience rationalising dashboard estates or moving BI logic downstream
• Nice to have: experience in e-commerce, manufacturing, or subscription business domains

Responsibilities:

• Partner with stakeholders across operations, commercial, finance, and supply chain to design data models and enable analytics
• Define metrics, dimensions, and business logic in the semantic layer, using tools such as dbt Semantic Layer or Snowflake semantic views
• Deliver reporting through our BI tools, currently Tableau, while taking a tool-agnostic approach and reducing duplicated or conflicting outputs
• Curate and validate governed datasets and semantic models for AI and natural-language use, ensuring AI-generated analysis is accurate
• Promote healthy self-service and data literacy, with a focus on fewer, better, trusted outputs
• Review colleagues work constructively and contribute to our modelling standards
• Demonstrate new features and train business stakeholders when required

This full-time, hybrid role is part of our data engineering and analytics engineering team, which brings together data from our e-commerce, manufacturing, fulfilment, and finance systems. We use Snowflake, dbt, and Dagster and are developing a governed semantic layer so trusted metrics can be used consistently across dashboards, self-service tools, and AI assistants. The role owns analytical domains end to end.
