Network Engineer (Cisco)

Salary: £62,000 - 62,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong hands-on network engineering experience across networking, security and cloud environments
• Strong knowledge of Cisco routing and switching
• Proven experience with Cisco ACI and Cisco FMG
• Strong experience across the Fortinet ecosystem
• Good understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, VLANs and network segmentation
• Experience configuring and managing network firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN and NAC technologies
• Experience with routing protocols such as BGP and switching technologies including STP and VLANs
• Experience working with Azure networking, including VNets, NSGs and VPN gateways
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including experience acting as an escalation point for network issues
• Experience working with internal stakeholders, technical teams and external service providers
• Ability to work under pressure and support major incidents when required
• Particularly relevant: CCNA or equivalent certification; AZ-700 or Microsoft Azure Networking certification; NAC experience; experience with network monitoring platforms such as SolarWinds; network automation and scripting experience; or experience in a CNI, regulated or similarly security-conscious environment

Responsibilities:

• Implement and support network infrastructure across WAN, LAN, Wi-Fi and firewalls
• Manage and support Cisco ACI, Cisco FMG and the Fortinet ecosystem
• Work with Azure networking, including VNets, NSGs and VPN gateways
• Review technical designs and provide guidance to ensure solutions meet security policies and industry standards
• Manage network security across firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN, NAC and network segmentation
• Work with the Cyber Security team on vulnerability remediation, risk assessments and threat intelligence
• Act as an escalation point for complex network incidents and help minimise disruption to IT services
• Work with internal stakeholders and external service providers on network changes, roadmaps and delivery
• Monitor network performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, performance and efficiency
• Maintain accurate network configurations, topologies and technical documentation
• Support the integration of new networking technologies into the existing infrastructure
• Identify opportunities for automation and reduce manual network configuration activities

This hands-on role covers network infrastructure across datacentres, Azure and office and depot environments. You will work closely with our internal technical teams, Cyber Security, project teams and external service partners, helping keep our critical network secure, reliable and performing at its best.
