Head of Engineering

Salary: £50,000 - 70,000 per year

Requirements:

• Comfortable working across JVM and Python; no specific framework is required
• Experience designing service boundaries based on data ownership, separating transactional systems from AI/ML components, and building multi-tenant platforms that handle sensitive financial data
• Experience with agentic workflows, retrieval quality (including RAG and graph-backed retrieval), and structured evaluation of AI outputs before release
• Experience with AWS at scale, Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code
• Strong engineering practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, static analysis, code review, and release discipline
• Experience with platform security architecture, compliance readiness for industry-standard certifications, enterprise security reviews, and regulated-buyer diligence
• Experience owning architecture for a multi-tenant enterprise platform
• At least 5 years leading engineering teams, including teams across multiple locations
• Experience building production LLM or agentic AI systems
• A track record of raising engineering standards and driving adoption
• Background in financial services or another regulated industry is a plus
• Experience with LangGraph, MCP, or schema-first contract governance is a plus

Responsibilities:

• Take ownership of the platforms architecture, engineering standards, and security posture
• Build out our UK engineering function across machine learning, front-end and back-end engineering, cloud, and security
• Work alongside our existing engineering team based overseas
