Systems Engineer - National Security

Salary: £32,000 - 72,000 per year

Requirements:

• Experience as a Systems Engineer in software, networking, digital or cyber security
• Background in a consultancy, large systems integrator or public sector organisation delivering complex products and services
• Working knowledge of Systems Engineering tools, standards and methods, including V-model, spiral and agile lifecycles, technical risk management, options trade-offs, requirements management, modelling, delivery assurance and IV&V
• Technical depth to get into the detail when needed
• Excellent written, verbal and client-facing communication skills
• Strong organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to juggle multiple workstreams
• Degree or equivalent experience
• Desirable: Systems Engineering delivery for defence, government, national security or law enforcement clients
• Desirable: SE accreditation such as INCOSE or a project management qualification

Responsibilities:

• Take technical ownership of complex projects and programmes from scoping through to integration and assurance
• Set the technical direction and run workshops to align stakeholders
• Ensure delivery stays on time, on budget and de-risked
• Scope projects with stakeholders and confirm technical feasibility
• Design the full lifecycle approach for complex projects and programmes
• Run requirements elicitation, technical design, risk analysis and pre-mortem workshops
• Coordinate internal teams, third parties and vendors through delivery, integration and assurance
• Keep projects within scope and budget, managing risk and controlling changes to scope, schedule and cost using appropriate verification techniques
• Produce and maintain Systems Engineering artefacts, including SEMPs, system models, plans, requirements, integration logic and test methodologies
• Coach and advise clients on Systems Engineering best practice
• Build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and vendors
• Report to and present for senior management
