Senior Machine Learning Manager

Salary: £30,000 - 50,000 per year

Requirements:

• We want strong knowledge of machine learning, statistics, and decisioning systems.
• We want deep experience in credit risk and lending.
• We want experience building, deploying, and iterating credit models in production.
• We want experience pushing the innovation frontiers of the credit industry.
• We want experience leading and developing senior ML scientists.
• We want strong cross-functional leadership with Product, Credit Strategy, Engineering, and Validation.
• We want a track record of turning strategy into practical delivery in a regulated environment.
• It would be great if you also have experience across more than one market.
• It would be great if you also have experience with advanced ML methods and AI on structured financial data.

Responsibilities:

• We will lead a high-calibre team of ML scientists and help define Borrowings ML roadmap across UK growth, new customer segments, and EU expansion.
• We will work across underwriting, pricing, limits, and lifecycle decisioning, improving todays models while helping build the next generation of capability for Monzo.
• We will own Borrowing ML roadmaps across UK optimisation, new customer segments, and EU expansion.
• We will drive faster model improvement through new data and feature engineering.
• We will shape how Monzo uses Open Banking, transaction intelligence, and external data in credit decisioning.
• We will build more portable underwriting capabilities across products, customer segments, and markets.
• We will hire, lead, and develop a high-performing ML team.
• We will raise the bar on model quality, governance, tooling, and speed of iteration.
• We will help improve underwriting models across Loans, Flex, and Overdrafts.
• We will expand the data we use in our models.
• We will build better feature engineering and model shipping capability.
• We will improve transaction intelligence for credit use cases.
• We will develop underwriting capabilities for new customer segments and EU markets.
• We will shape our approach to advanced ML and AI.
