Software & Operations Engineer

We are looking for an Software & Operations Engineer to join a team responsible for the maintenance, evolution and operational support of mission-critical software applications used in satellite operations.

The ideal candidate is passionate about software engineering and automation, enjoys solving complex technical challenges and is motivated to contribute to the successful delivery of operational space missions.

What you'll be doing (job duties)

• Support the full lifecycle of software applications, from maintenance and troubleshooting to testing, deployment and operational support.
• Analyse and resolve software and system issues in collaboration with development and operations teams.
• Develop and maintain software, scripts, tools and supporting configurations.
• Execute integration, verification and acceptance activities, including formal test campaigns.
• Support software deployments and release management activities.
• Contribute to automation, process improvement and operational efficiency initiatives.
• Coordinate technical activities across multiple engineering and operational disciplines.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and test artefacts.
• Support critical operational activities and ensure system readiness.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of mission-critical ground segment systems.

What we look for in you (job requirements)

• A university degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience with Linux system administration, preferably SLES.
• Practical experience with Docker and containerised applications.
• Good programming experience in Java and Python.
• Experience with Git and GitLab.
• Experience with software testing, including integration and regression testing.
• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing or software release processes is an advantage.
• Experience in satellite ground systems, mission operations or other complex operational environments is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively across multiple technical teams and organisational interfaces.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to work independently while working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• High attention to detail.
• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
