Job Description

Salary: £55,000 - 95,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Hands-on experience and detailed technical knowledge supporting Unix/Linux operating systems in a technical support role
  • Demonstrable administration experience with several of the following: RHEL, HP-UX (including agile hardware addressing), SLES Linux, Solaris, CentOS, Ubuntu, and Debian
  • Demonstrable experience with LDAP, BIND, and Ignite administration
  • Understanding of network services, storage, virtualisation, and identity and access management in a *nix environment
  • Ability to create and develop shell scripts
  • Knowledge and experience deploying and managing security and system patching, using tools such as Red Hat Satellite
  • Experience supporting middleware or applications in a *nix environment is beneficial
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex, technical, multi-site, multidisciplinary problems and incidents
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong presentation skills
  • Ability to use a Service Desk tool to manage incident, change, and problem tickets and carry out reporting
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to manage workplace conflict and challenges
  • ITIL qualification
  • Professional IT certifications relating to Unix or Linux platforms
Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance within the team on a daily basis, ensuring workflow and customer expectations are managed
  • Support the managed services team with advanced troubleshooting of incidents in customer environments
  • Act as a technical resource for major incidents involving Unix/Linux technologies
  • Manage incidents and problems within agreed service levels
  • Perform technical root cause analysis for recurring or major incidents
  • Assist with project engagement to ensure technical solutions meet customer requirements
  • Complete and maintain technical documentation to professional standards
  • Identify technical problems and potential service improvements across customer environments
  • Log calls with third-party vendors and manage them through to resolution or escalation
  • Ensure technical components and supported technologies within the technical tower are correctly configured
  • Contribute to technical excellence across the wider Infrastructure team
  • Contribute to and work toward technical and service goals defined by managed services leadership
