Sr Manager of Software Engineering

Salary: £100,000 - 100,000 per year

Requirements:

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10 years of applied experience
• Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Advanced knowledge and demonstrated skills in programming languages C and C++
• Demonstrated experience leading effective use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment, with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching senior engineers and leads on compliant usage patterns and controls
• Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines such as cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or mobile
• Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight
• Practical cloud native experience
• Experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
• Hands-on experience working within the Financial Services industry
• Hands-on experience with high-throughput and low-latency systems
• Hands-on experience in electronic trading systems

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical guidance and direction to support our business, technical teams, contractors, and vendors
• Develop secure and high-quality production code, and review and debug code written by others
• Drive decisions that influence product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes
• Serve as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus
• Contribute to our engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and Software Development Life Cycle practices
• Influence peers and project decision-makers to consider the use and application of leading-edge technologies
• Add to our team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect
• Drive adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices across teams to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes
• Establish measurable validation standards for secure coding, peer review, automated testing, and other validation practices
• Promote reuse of proven patterns and automation within the SDLC and TLM toolchain
• Apply knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation at scale
