Software Engineering Team Lead

Salary: £30,000 - 52,000 per year

Requirements:

• British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship.
• Security Clearance (SC) is required to be obtained for this role.
• Experience with C or C++ is essential; experience with Ada and/or JavaScript is also relevant.
• Experience with shell scripting languages and a solid background in software engineering.
• Team leading experience is beneficial.
• Ability to innovate and think critically to solve complex software problems.
• Comfortable working in a collaborative environment and contributing to design and implementation decisions.
• Experience writing and reviewing technical documentation, and providing regular progress updates and engineering demos.
• Linux experience is beneficial.

Responsibilities:

• Lead a mid-sized development team working on our new missile-system middleware solution.
• Manage Agile sprints, ceremonies, and backlog prioritisation.
• Develop software systems and processes to ensure smooth software delivery.
• Facilitate effective coordination among team members, ensuring tasks are assigned and deadlines are met.
• Ensure the team follows software development best practices, quality assurance processes, and coding standards.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimisation.
• Work across multiple applications on both land and maritime projects in the systems software department.
• Build a strong working relationship with the Software Project Leader to support team working.
• Support integration and contribute to design and implementation decisions.
