Senior Mission System Architect – Platform Interface

Salary: £40,000 - 70,000 per year

Requirements:

• A degree in Engineering or a related subject.
• Full membership of an appropriate engineering institution and Chartered Engineer status, or actively working towards it.
• Extensive experience in maritime systems integration and system-of-systems architecture.
• Strong knowledge of platform automation, control systems and digital engineering.
• Applicants must achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard.
• Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting, which may typically require 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role.

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership for the integration of platform, mission and support systems across future naval platforms.
• Define platform-agnostic architectures that enable seamless interaction between propulsion, power, control, combat and auxiliary systems, and offboard monitoring.
• Work within complex system-of-systems environments to ensure solutions are safe, resilient, interoperable and aligned with Hybrid Navy strategic objectives.
• Collaborate with customers, suppliers and engineering teams across our business and the broader defence enterprise.
• Influence strategic direction and deliver future-ready platform integration solutions that support operational performance and long-term capability growth.
• Lead platform interface architecture and integration strategy.
• Define standards, interfaces and system integration principles.
• Resolve complex cross-domain integration and interoperability challenges.
• Embed cyber resilience, safety and assurance into architectural solutions.
• Support digital ship technologies, automation and control systems.
• Influence stakeholders on platform integration strategy and delivery.

This Senior Mission System Architect – Platform Interface role is based in Portsmouth (Broad Oak) or Frimley, Filton, Dorchester, with hybrid working at 3 days on site and routine travel to other southern BAE sites within the UK and occasionally internationally. The salary is up to £89,520 depending on experience.
