Salary: £32,000 - 72,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Clear track record of technical execution on HPC opportunities.
  • Expertise in HPC application performance testing on CPU, and ideally GPU.
  • Strong understanding of the HPC toolchain, runtime performance optimisation, and system design impacts and mitigation strategies.
  • Strong technical program management skills.
  • Ability to lead technical relationships with customers and HPC partners.
  • Ability to independently prioritise opportunities and deliver results on time.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good level of business English.
  • Strong positive can-do attitude and willingness to do what is necessary.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally approximately 10-25%.
  • Track record of winning HPC opportunities over a 3-year period is preferred.
  • Experience compiling large codes from source, such as large weather codes, with appropriately linked math libraries and flag optimisation is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of different toolchains, such as ZenSS, Intel, and CPE, is preferred.
  • Proven understanding of baseline testing of popular synthetic and real-world codes, such as HPL, OpenFOAM, molecular dynamics, CFD, and weather, is preferred.
  • Understanding of system-level hardware and its configuration and impact on performance to enable projections on future performance is preferred.
  • Customer-facing experience is preferred.
  • Ability to write technical documents and communicate appropriately for different audiences is preferred.
  • Some Linux administration experience and understanding of HPC middleware setup is preferred.
  • Experience building and running HPC applications on GPU is a nice to have.
  • CUDA, OpenACC, or OpenMP experience is a nice to have.
  • Experience running AI models on CPU or GPU is a nice to have.
  • Understanding of assembly is a nice to have.
  • Understanding of memory and cache hierarchy and methods to query performance and latency at each level is a nice to have.
  • Understanding of HPC dataflow down to the register level is a nice to have.
  • Bachelors degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics is preferred.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead HPC technical engagement in key customer accounts through product discussion and demonstration.
  • Perform proofs of concept and performance testing on applications.
  • Carry out hardware and toolchain performance debugging, testing, characterisation, and comparison.
  • Provide CPU recommendations based on generated performance data.
  • Liaise with partners on their HPC testing and provide hands-on assistance.
  • Pitch and demonstrate EPYC and Instinct for HPC.
  • Assist in creating TCO models to support pricing with the bid desk.
  • Characterise applications on EPYC and Instinct and document results.
  • Perform testing on early CPU samples.
  • Engage with Engineering, Architecture, Platform, Software, and Product Development teams and provide feedback and leadership from the field on future direction.
  • Create training material and provide training sessions at customer sites.
  • Act as a specialist and mentor to the frontline Field Application Engineering team.
  • Technically own and resolve customer and partner issues.
  • Submit JIRA tickets and drive resolution.
  • Automate repeatable procedures.
