Senior Engineer Naval Architecture

Salary: £40,000 - 70,000 per year

Requirements:

• Prior experience undertaking surface ship and/or submarine stability analysis using packages such as Paramarine, Aveva, or MaxSurf, with a strong understanding of hydrostatic principles and methods.
• Or prior experience generating surface ship and/or submarine manoeuvring models, with a strong understanding of hydrodynamic principles and methods.
• General knowledge of submarine or surface ship design standards and processes, and how the product is operated, including a basic understanding of environmental challenges.
• Prior experience with CAD packages such as Rhino or NX.
• A degree in Naval Architecture, Aeronautical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or relevant equivalent experience.
• Must meet security and export control restrictions applicable to the role, including Baseline Personnel Security Standard and, where required, higher levels of National Security Vetting.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct analysis and evaluations of submarine platform performance from concept design through to in-service support.
• Develop, verify, and validate mathematical manoeuvring models using physical model test data.
• Work with enterprise partners to develop modelling capabilities, processes, and toolsets.
• Collaborate with Naval Architect teams and customers to deliver innovative and safe submarine solutions.
• Support and conduct sea trials.
• Work with experts across Naval Architecture, Weight Engineering, and CFD disciplines on major submarine design and build programmes.
