Senior Application Engineer (SIEM)
Job Description
Salary: £76,000 - 94,000 per year
Requirements:- Solid experience in supporting, configuring, and enhancing security tooling platforms such as SIEM, EDR, or similar.
- Ability to solve moderately complex application-related issues and contribute to secure, scalable solutions.
- Understanding of application lifecycle management, integration patterns, and secure-by-design principles.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering and business teams.
- A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
- Experience supporting, configuring, and enhancing security tooling platforms, including SIEM, EDR, and vulnerability management.
- Experience with log and event management, including ingestion, parsing, and correlation of system and security logs.
- Experience integrating security tooling with platform, network, and identity services.
- Experience providing operational support and tuning of security tooling in live environments.
- Experience with application lifecycle management, including deployment, maintenance, upgrades, and decommissioning.
- Experience with integration patterns and identity management, including SSO, RBAC, and API integration.
- Knowledge of secure-by-design principles and application security practices.
- Technical problem-solving skills for resolving application-related issues.
- Experience collaborating with engineering, SOC, and service management teams.
- Experience working within security and ITIL-aligned environments.
- Experience delivering within secure, enterprise, or defence environments.
- Desirable: experience with SIEM, EDR, or vulnerability management tools such as Splunk, Trellix, or Tenable.
- Desirable: experience with SOAR platforms and automation of security response workflows.
- Desirable: experience integrating with monitoring, alerting, and incident response systems.
- Desirable: experience with threat detection, analytics, and use case development.
- Desirable: experience integrating with enterprise services such as Active Directory and identity platforms.
- Desirable: exposure to DevOps and CI-CD practices.
- Desirable: experience working in secure or regulated environments.
- This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Governments Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS).
- Additional Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) will apply.
- This role requires Developed Vetting (DV) clearance prior to starting.
- Support, configure, and enhance security tooling platforms that underpin threat detection and response.
- Deliver engineering tasks within defined work packages, ensuring alignment with user needs, security requirements, and service-level objectives.
- Contribute to application architecture, integration, and lifecycle activities under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across engineering, service management, and business teams to resolve technical issues.
- Mentor junior engineers and specialists, supporting their development and promoting best practices.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including automation, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
- Ensure compliance with engineering governance, ITSM processes, and cyber security policies.
- Take the lead in solving customer problems in an agile, innovative, and team-centric manner.
