Senior AI/ML Computational Scientist
Job Description
Salary: £61,000 - 101,000 per year
Requirements:- Bachelors degree or equivalent.
- Significant experience as a machine learning engineer or scientist, deploying models at scale in production, including monitoring, alerting, automatic bug filing, and auditing.
- Extensive experience applying computer science foundations, including computer system architecture, systems engineering, and programming.
- Well-versed in distributed computing systems and architectures, which may include big data, high-performance computing, engineering simulations, scientific computing, grid computing, cloud computing, and distributed networks.
- Established experience building and deploying AI/ML-based software in a cloud environment.
- Proficiency in Python and Python-based AI/ML frameworks; familiarity with relevant libraries and frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch is preferred.
- Experience working with language models, including LLM APIs, and optimizing their use for specific applications is preferred.
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, C++, Java, R, and SQL is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, are preferred.
- Strong client-facing skills in a consulting environment are preferred.
- Strong cross-functional skills and the ability to collaborate with internal and client-side teams are preferred.
- An entrepreneurial mindset, curiosity about emerging technology, and a passion for driving innovation are preferred.
- A masters or PhD in a related field, such as computer science or engineering, is preferred.
- Formulate real-world problems as practical, efficient, and scalable AI and machine learning solutions.
- Develop and implement machine learning algorithms, models, and computational systems.
- Design and build scalable data pipelines to support model training and production, using DevOps and MLOps.
- Customize and apply deep learning and generative AI models to meet business needs, data availability, and system and infrastructure requirements, including edge devices and high-performance computing.
- Research and develop AI and high-performance computing algorithms, models, and simulations, and apply them to complex business problems at client sites.
- Work with large-scale datasets and use data preprocessing techniques to provide high-quality inputs for training and production.
- Implement and maintain efficient data storage and retrieval mechanisms for models and knowledge using appropriate tools.
- Justify the value of model approaches for business problems.
- Collaborate with business and technical teams, including users, use-case representatives, business owners, engineers, architects, and UI designers, to achieve project goals and integrate solutions into production.
- Assess client needs and data, select and customize models, design scalable data and MLOps/LLMOps pipelines, and ensure the quality, value, and reliability of deployed systems.
