Lead Technical Architect
Job Description
Salary: £55,000 - 95,000 per year
Requirements:- We need significant experience designing and delivering complex digital and data solutions in the UK Government or wider public sector.
- We need deep knowledge of enterprise architecture patterns, public cloud services such as Azure and AWS, application design, integration patterns including API and event-driven approaches, and data platforms.
- We need demonstrable success in shaping client strategies, designing operating models, and contributing to business case development and benefit modelling.
- We need experience in bid and pre-sales activities, including shaping client proposals, contributing to statements of work, and presenting to commercial and technical stakeholders.
- We need a sound understanding of government standards and frameworks, including the Digital Service Standard, GDS assessment criteria, NCSC cloud security principles, and relevant assurance models.
- We need experience working in agile delivery environments and collaborating across business and technology domains.
- We need excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to articulate and advocate for strategic solutions at executive level.
- We need extensive experience in a solution architecture or enterprise architecture role with demonstrable impact in government or regulated industries.
- We need a background in consulting, systems integration, or technology leadership within public sector environments.
- We prefer relevant certifications such as TOGAF, SAFe, or cloud architect qualifications for Azure or AWS.
- We prefer understanding of government technology assurance frameworks and legacy modernisation journeys.
- We prefer a degree in a technology-related discipline or equivalent practical experience.
- We will lead the technical design and architecture of solutions for complex public sector programmes.
- We will define end-to-end architectures across cloud platforms, applications, data, security, and integration layers.
- We will work with stakeholders to ensure solutions align with business goals, government policies, and technical constraints.
- We will support all phases of delivery from discovery and alpha through beta and live, ensuring compliance with GDS Service Standards and technology assurance processes.
- We will drive architectural decision-making, technical governance, and reusability across programmes.
- We will support pre-sales, bids, and client proposals as technical subject matter experts.
- We will mentor junior team members, provide leadership within our technical communities, and contribute to the evolution of our public sector offerings.
