Requirements:

• Strong hands-on experience with Golang (Go)
• Strong experience with Java
• Approximately 10 years of overall software engineering experience
• At least 5 years of relevant development experience
• Strong software engineering and problem-solving skills
• Experience developing and maintaining production-grade applications
• Hands-on experience using AI tools in software development
• Experience working with SQL
• Experience with Apache Kafka
• Experience working with distributed and scalable systems
• Experience working in Agile development environments

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test and maintain high-quality software applications
• Write clean, efficient and maintainable Golang and Java code
• Work closely with architects, developers, QA and other stakeholders
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
• Contribute to technical design and implementation decisions
• Develop and maintain APIs and backend services
• Participate in code reviews and engineering best practices
• Use AI-assisted development tools effectively to enhance engineering productivity
• Support application testing, deployment and production issues
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join a project for a leading financial services organisation. The role is a 12-month contract based in Burgess Hill, UK, with a hybrid working model and 40 hours per week. The expected start is within 1 month of acceptance, with a rate of £40 per hour. We are particularly interested in candidates who combine strong hands-on Golang development expertise with Java experience and who are actively embracing AI-powered development tools in their current engineering workflow. We will consider candidates outside the typical experience range if they can demonstrate the necessary competencies.
