Requirements:- Strong commercial experience as a Data Engineer in a large enterprise environment; ideally at least five years of data engineering experience
- Hands-on expertise with Databricks
- Advanced SQL and strong Python development skills
- Extensive experience with Oracle databases
- Proven experience delivering data pipelines and integration solutions
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms, data modelling, performance optimisation and data quality controls
- Experience across the full software development lifecycle
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with stakeholders
- Banking or financial services experience, experience in regulated environments, or exposure to Azure data services is desirable
- Knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps practices for data engineering, experience supporting cloud migration or modernisation programmes, and familiarity with data governance and data lineage principles are desirable
- Must have or be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance at SC/DV level; relevant residency requirements apply, and reserved post nationality restrictions may apply
- Design, build and optimise scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines
- Develop and maintain data solutions using Databricks, Python and SQL
- Support migration of data assets from legacy platforms to modern cloud architectures
- Integrate data from enterprise systems, including Oracle databases
- Build reusable data engineering frameworks and promote best practice
- Maintain high standards of data quality, integrity, security and performance
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement sustainable fixes
- Translate business requirements into robust technical solutions in collaboration with architects, analysts and delivery teams

We are recruiting a hands-on Data Engineer for a major data transformation and cloud modernisation programme in a highly regulated banking environment. This is a six-month temporary contract, inside IR35, paying £400–£450 per day, with an ASAP start and hybrid working in London, typically two to three days per week. The role is delivery-focused rather than a technical lead position, and involves working under the client delivery manager within a multidisciplinary team, following established delivery processes.
