Lead .NET Developer

Salary: £59,000 - 99,000 per year

Requirements:

• Excellent experience in the .NET ecosystem, particularly C# and ASP.NET MVC.
• Proven track record of leading a delivery team to deliver high-quality, robust solutions.
• Expertise in Azure and DevOps.
• Expertise in coaching and guiding others towards optimal solutions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical and non-technical information to different audiences.
• Expertise across the full development lifecycle, delivering user-centred digital solutions.
• Advanced full-stack development skills using C#, F#, ASP.NET MVC, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• Experience with JavaScript libraries and frameworks such as Node, React or Angular is preferable.
• Containerisation expertise, such as Docker, Kubernetes or similar.
• Expert knowledge of microservices design and architecture, including RESTful API services.
• Expertise working with agile methods and techniques such as Scrum, Kanban and TDD.
• Skills in designing and building native and web applications across varied scales and platform environments.
• Expertise in Infrastructure as Code, such as CloudFormation, Terraform or ARM.
• Mastery of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, AWS CodeBuild, Azure DevOps and Atlassian.
• Previous experience working on government or NHS projects is highly desirable.
• Applicants should be located within reasonable travelling distance of one of our UK offices and be open to travelling and working at a Hippo office or client site at least two days per week, depending on client needs.

Responsibilities:

• Act as a technical subject matter expert within the squad, ensuring user-centred software is developed from business requirements and follows best practice.
• Collaborate with colleagues to explore, design and deliver solutions to client problems.
• Design and manage software development and deployment pipelines, resolving issues and potential bottlenecks proactively.
• Review and prioritise the delivery teams workload, anticipating when priorities may require realignment.
• Present prototypes, solutions and progress clearly to stakeholders.
• Build strong relationships with team members and stakeholders, identifying and resolving challenges.
• Participate in recruiting, onboarding and line-managing engineers, and support consultants professional development.
• Promote our Engineering Herd externally through activities such as blogs, workshops, seminars or conferences.
• Provide technical expertise in software engineering practices to our teams and clients, offering strategic guidance and hands-on leadership.
