Network Engineer - Insurance

Requirements:

• 5+ years experience in enterprise network engineering
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, routing and switching, firewall technologies, network segmentation and security principles, application connectivity, and traffic analysis
• Experience performing application dependency mapping and topology analysis
• Experience producing low-level and high-level network designs
• Experience planning and executing enterprise infrastructure changes
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

Responsibilities:

• Create secure network zones using VLANs, subnets, and software-defined networking (SDN)
• Write and manage firewall rules, access control lists (ACLs), and micro-segmentation policies
• Monitor data flow to ensure security policies do not disrupt business applications
• Isolate critical assets, IoT devices, and legacy systems from the main corporate network
• Work with security teams to respond to incidents and audit network boundaries

We are advertising a contract Network Engineer role based in London, working two days per week at a client site in the insurance sector for a large IT company. The day rate is £500–£520 via Umbrella, inside IR35.
