Applied AI Engineer

Salary: £49,000 - 89,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong commercial experience developing backend applications in C# and .NET
• Experience integrating AI or LLM technologies into production software
• Understanding of RAG, embeddings, prompt engineering, and vector search
• Experience building scalable cloud-based applications using Azure
• Genuine interest in Applied AI and solving real-world product problems
• Familiarity with C#/.NET 8 or 9, .NET Core, Azure OpenAI, OpenAI APIs, Semantic Kernel, vector databases, SQL Server, REST APIs, microservices, and Docker

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop AI-powered features within our modern C#/.NET application stack
• Integrate large language models (LLMs) and generative AI into customer-facing products
• Build RAG pipelines using vector databases and semantic search
• Develop APIs and backend services that support AI functionality at scale
• Work with our Product, Engineering, and Data teams to deliver intelligent product capabilities
• Evaluate AI outputs, improve reliability, and implement guardrails and monitoring

We are investing heavily in AI and are looking for an Applied AI Engineer to help productionise AI-powered features in our existing .NET platform. This is a product engineering role focused on turning AI capabilities into reliable, scalable software with commercial value. The position is based in Nottingham with hybrid working, including two days a week in the office and flexible office hours. The salary is up to £80,000, depending on experience.
