Senior Platform Engineer

Salary: £36,000 - 63,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong experience in platform engineering, DevOps, platform management, or a similar IT engineering role.
• Hands-on experience managing cloud infrastructure at scale, ideally with Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Good knowledge of cloud services, including compute, storage, networking, serverless architecture, virtualisation, and containerisation.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, automation, and scripting tools such as Terraform, Azure DevOps Services, Git, PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Experience building or managing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, CircleCI, or similar.
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or the ELK stack.
• Strong understanding of security principles, compliance frameworks, and DevOps practices in cloud environments.
• Clear communication skills and confidence working across engineering, product, security, and operations teams.
• A proactive, analytical, continuous-improvement mindset and a passion for delivering high-quality customer solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable cloud platform infrastructure.
• Manage cloud services across compute, storage, and networking, with a focus on performance, cost efficiency, and resilience.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code and automation for effective provisioning and platform management.
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines to support smoother, safer, and more efficient software releases.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and performance improvements to support operational excellence and customer experience.
• Collaborate with Development, Security, DevSecOps, and Operations teams to deliver platform solutions aligned with business needs.
• Champion security best practices, access controls, and compliance standards across cloud platforms.
• Support incident response, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement to minimise downtime and improve reliability.
• Mentor and support other engineers, sharing knowledge and helping build technical capability across the team.
