Forward Deployment Engineer

Salary: £61,000 - 101,000 per year

Requirements:

• Good technical experience in AI/ML, including developing and deploying solutions using LLMs, RAG architectures, and modern AI frameworks and protocols such as Strands, FastMCP, LangChain, LlamaIndex, Hugging Face, A2A, and MCP.
• Ability to translate multi-layered business problems into technical solutions, with experience working directly with business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver production systems.
• Experience delivering in financial environments, including investment banking, risk, compliance, or a relevant domain, with understanding of regulatory considerations and responsible AI practices.
• Solid software engineering foundation with proficiency in Python, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), APIs, and full-stack development to rapidly prototype and productionise AI applications.
• Experience with MLOps practices, including model deployment, monitoring, evaluation, and CI/CD pipelines, delivering AI solutions from concept to production.
• Excellent communication and consulting skills, with the ability to build trust, manage stakeholder expectations, and drive AI capabilities across diverse business units.
• Experience with vector databases, prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and understanding when to apply different AI approaches to business problems.
• Knowledge of data engineering, analytics, and visualisation tools to support end-to-end solution delivery, including data pipelines and user interfaces.
• Experience with React/JS frameworks.
• Ability to meet the roles assessed key skills, including risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, and digital and technology skills.
• Suitable for an Assistant Vice President level role with the ability to advise and influence decision making, contribute to policy development, and take responsibility for operational effectiveness.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop and improve software using various engineering methodologies to provide business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.
• Develop and deliver high-quality software solutions using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
• Ensure code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
• Work with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and contribute to our technology communities to foster technical excellence and growth.
• Adhere to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
• Implement effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
• Collaborate closely with other functions and business divisions.
• Lead a team performing complex tasks, or for individual contributor roles, lead collaborative assignments and guide team members through structured assignments.
• Set objectives and coach employees in pursuit of those objectives, including appraisal of performance relative to objectives and determination of reward outcomes where applicable.
• Identify the need for inclusion of other areas of specialisation to complete assignments and identify new directions for assignments and/or projects.
• Consult on complex issues, provide advice to people leaders, and support resolution of escalated issues.
• Identify ways to mitigate risk and develop new policies and procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.
• Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done.
• Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources to solve problems creatively and effectively.
• Communicate complex information and influence or convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
