Senior Test Engineer

Salary: £101,920 - 114,400 per year

Requirements:

• Analytical mindset with strong critical thinking and communication skills.
• Experienced in non-functional testing, defect prioritization, and risk assessment.
• Comfortable using blended delivery methods, managing MVPs, and fostering experimentation.
• Strong understanding of modern software landscapes, architectures, and technical constraints.
• Passionate about coaching teams and introducing effective tools and processes.
• Public sector experience required.

Responsibilities:

• Set overall testing strategy and build a strong engineering community.
• Lead and mentor test engineering teams on best practices and tooling.
• Manage system and acceptance test planning across functional and non-functional areas.
• Serve as the main point of contact for resolving critical delivery blockers.
• Improve test infrastructure, monitor test suites, and reduce technical debt.
• Share reusable libraries, tools, and best practices across teams.
• Agree test approaches and progress metrics with senior stakeholders.
• Ensure usability, accessibility, security, stability, and capacity standards are met.

We are recruiting for a Senior Test Engineer on a contract/temporary basis for 6 months, offering a day rate of £392.00 to £440.00. This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham, with candidates also able to be based in Sheffield, Newcastle, Manchester, Blackpool, or Leeds, with 60% onsite working.
