Application Analyst

Salary: £24,000 - 36,000 per year

Requirements:

• We are looking for an experienced Application Analyst (Technical) or similar.
• We need proven experience in application discovery, technical assessment and legacy application modernisation.
• We need hands-on experience assessing one or more of Excel/VBA, MS Access, VB/VB6 or PowerBuilder.
• We need a good understanding of .NET application modernisation.
• We need understanding of Azure and/or OpenShift/container platforms.
• We need strong knowledge of application architecture, APIs, databases, integrations and dependencies.
• We need excellent analytical, requirements-gathering and problem-solving skills.
• We need strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• We need the ability to translate technical findings into clear business requirements and recommendations.

Responsibilities:

• We conduct technical discovery and assessment of legacy applications.
• We analyse applications developed using Excel/VBA, MS Access, VB/VB6 and/or PowerBuilder.
• We document application functionality, architecture, interfaces, data flows and dependencies.
• We work with application owners and business users to understand business processes, usage and criticality.
• We identify technical debt, risks, dependencies and modernisation challenges.
• We gather and document functional and technical requirements.
• We assess modernisation options including re-engineering, re-platforming, replacement, consolidation or retirement.
• We support the definition of modernisation solutions using .NET, Azure and/or OpenShift.
• We produce clear application assessment reports, technical documentation and modernisation recommendations.
• We work alongside architects, developers and DevOps teams to support migration, testing and deployment.

We are delivering an application modernisation programme focused on the assessment, discovery and transformation of legacy applications into modern .NET solutions deployed across Azure and OpenShift/container platforms. This is a hands-on technical discovery and assessment role working closely with application owners, business stakeholders, architects, developers, DevOps and infrastructure teams. The role is based in London on a hybrid basis with 2 days per week in the office and 3 days remote. It is a 4-6 month contract with likely extensions, inside IR35, with an immediate start in the London Market Insurance sector.
