Senior Low Latency Rust Engineer

Salary: £41,000 - 71,500 per year

Requirements:

• We ideally want someone with a background in algorithmic trading, electronic trading, market data, or another genuinely latency-sensitive environment.
• Experience with Rust, modern Java, or C++ is relevant.
• Experience building low-latency or high-throughput systems is relevant.
• Experience with algorithmic or electronic trading is relevant.
• Experience with market-data technologies is relevant.
• Knowledge of Linux internals and kernel behaviour is relevant.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP networking is relevant.
• Experience with Solarflare, OpenOnload, or similar kernel-bypass technologies is relevant.
• Experience with KDB or other time-series databases is relevant.
• Experience with performance tuning and optimisation is relevant.
• We are looking for genuine depth in high-performance systems engineering and the ability to understand latency across the full stack.

Responsibilities:

• Build low-latency Rust and Java frameworks.
• Work on event-sourced systems operating in the 10-100 microsecond range.
• Develop market-data replay, backtesting, and simulation tooling.
• Build high-performance market-data processing systems.
• Optimise Linux, kernel, and systems-level performance.
• Work on TCP/IP networking and kernel-bypass technologies.
• Perform profiling, benchmarking, and latency reduction.
• Develop frameworks and tooling used across 100 technology teams.
• Remain deeply hands-on across multiple trading platforms and engineering problems.

We are helping hire an experienced low-latency engineer to join a specialist team building frameworks, libraries, and performance tooling used across a large global electronic trading environment. This is not a traditional BAU development role; we work across multiple trading platforms and focus on complex performance problems that shape how latency-sensitive systems are engineered. Approximately 90% of the role is hands-on coding, with a major focus on Rust alongside modern Java. The role is based in London with a hybrid working model of up to 3 days per week in the office. Compensation is highly competitive, and the standout appeal is the combination of Rust, microsecond-level performance engineering, and large-scale production electronic trading.
