Requirements:

• We require candidates to hold DV Clearance.
• We are looking for extensive experience implementing Microsoft Hyper-V clusters and server migrations.
• We need strong knowledge of PKI solutions and network security practises.
• We require proven ability to produce detailed technical documentation.
• We are looking for excellent stakeholder engagement skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Candidates must have active National Security vetting (DV) and the capability to undergo additional Police Vetting (NPPV3).

Responsibilities:

• We will ask you to establish a resilient, two-site Microsoft Hyper-V cluster to replace our existing infrastructure.
• You will validate cluster performance and ensure high availability.
• You will prepare detailed solution design documentation.
• You will assess and migrate approximately 40 devices, both physical and virtual, to the new platform.
• You will ensure compliance with local governance standards during upgrades and patches.
• You will engage in migration testing and service validation.
• You will provision new virtual servers for network monitoring applications.
• You will apply security hardening and patching in line with best practises.
• You will validate platform readiness alongside local ICT resources.
• You will design and implement a Microsoft-based Certificate Authority and PKI solution.
• You will conduct integration with Active Directory and network vendor equipment.
• You will provide comprehensive documentation and knowledge transfer to ICT resources.

We are recruiting for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to work within the Thames Valley Police Force in Newbury on a temporary contract until October 2027. The role is full time, Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm, 37 hours per week, with a hybrid working pattern.
