Azure Data Support Engineer

Salary: £50,000 - 80,000 per year

Requirements:

• Already hold UK Government Security Clearance (SC) or be eligible and willing to undergo the SC vetting process
• Proficiency in Azure Data Factory (ADF) including pipelines, triggers, and monitoring
• Experience with Azure Databricks (Spark, notebooks, job orchestration)
• Experience with Azure Machine Learning (pipelines, model deployment, monitoring)
• Knowledge of Power BI Service (dataset refreshes, access control, report diagnostics)
• CI/CD experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and YAML pipelines
• Scripting skills in Python or PowerShell
• Monitoring experience using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Alerts, and Application Insights
• Advanced SQL skills for debugging, data validation, and optimization
• Experience with Azure SQL DB or SQL Server
• Familiarity with data modeling concepts and warehouse performance tuning
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills for root cause analysis
• Exposure to ITSM tools such as ServiceNow or Jira
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with good documentation abilities

Responsibilities:

• Support and maintain Azure-based data solutions including ADF pipelines, Databricks, and ML models
• Monitor and troubleshoot failures in pipelines, jobs, and ML workflows using Azure Monitor and Log Analytics
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines for ADF, Databricks, and ML model deployments
• Develop automation scripts to reduce manual intervention and improve service reliability
• Write, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries for data validation and root cause analysis
• Support and maintain data warehouse environments such as Azure Synapse Analytics and SQL Server
• Monitor ETL performance and investigate slow-running queries and data load failures
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and develop self-healing automation for recurring failures
• Provide L2/L3 support aligned with ITIL practices (incident, problem, and change management)
• Participate in on-call rotations and handle critical incident response
• Maintain detailed SOPs, runbooks, and client documentation
