Product Lead - Public Sector

Salary: £90,000 - 90,000 per year

Requirements:

• We require experience in bespoke software delivery as part of an agile team working for an external customer; client-facing consulting experience is a must-have.
• We require UK public sector experience, ideally central government.
• We require experience owning the end-to-end product backlog and taking responsibility for story quality and maturity.
• We require experience shaping the approach across phases of the software development lifecycle, including analysis, acceptance, launch, and live ops.
• We require experience ensuring requirements-gathering, refinement, and prioritisation processes are effective.
• We require experience devising goal-oriented roadmaps, gaining stakeholder buy-in, and maintaining a focus on MVP.
• We require experience leading the collaborative breakdown of goals into small pieces of value-delivering work.
• We require experience leading product teams and ensuring product vision and goals are understood so scope is managed effectively.
• We require proven ability to provide direction and promote good product management practices across one or more agile teams.
• We require experience coaching and mentoring clients and colleagues in agile techniques and best practices.
• We require strong team management skills, including effectively managing, mentoring, and coaching team members and the wider community.
• We require strong commercial awareness and active participation in revenue- or sales-generating activity.
• We require experience building relationships with product and programme-level business stakeholders.
• We require experience facilitating workshops with senior stakeholders, negotiating conflicting viewpoints, and achieving buy-in for new initiatives.
• We require experience implementing appropriate tools, standards, and techniques for business analysis and requirements gathering, with buy-in from internal teams and the client.
• We require experience working with delivery leads and solution architects to manage scope within commercial constraints such as cost restrictions or project deadlines.
• We require a good understanding of relevant technologies and architecture concepts.

Responsibilities:

• We will play a lead role across one or more multi-disciplinary agile delivery teams.
• We will own the end-to-end backlog for a product and be responsible for its overall quality and maturity.
• We will lead business analysts and product consultants on our project, ensuring requirements-gathering and prioritisation processes operate effectively.
• We will work with delivery managers and solution architects to shape the approach for the work we and the wider team undertake.
• We will proactively seek commercial opportunities and take a lead role in product-level commercial negotiations.
• We will support engagement with product- or programme-level business stakeholders, gaining buy-in and managing expectations.
• We will act as visible leaders within the consulting capability and own the delivery of consulting initiatives.
• We will manage, coach, and develop a small number of staff, with a focus on employee performance.
