Software Quality Engineer

Salary: £90,000 - 130,000 per year

Requirements:

• Qualification in software design, engineering, or computer science (NVQ Level 4/ONC or above)
• Qualified AS9100 Lead Auditor preferred, or Qualified Lead Auditor in ISO 9001, 2000, or 27001
• Understanding of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes
• Knowledge of SQL and scripting
• Working experience in software development and software quality assurance
• Current knowledge of trends and latest advancements
• Knowledge or experience of ISO 20000 (IT Services Management)
• Knowledge or experience of ISO 27001 (Information Security Management Systems)
• Familiarity with Agile development techniques
• Root Cause Analysis qualification
• Experience estimating work loading and task management
• Ability to work with and influence across multiple functions and levels within a small team
• Experience of UK MoD Maritime, Land and Air based programmes
• Experience of UK MoD Military Aviation Authority (MAA) Regulatory Publications (MRPs)
• Familiar with UK MAA Military Approved Organisation Scheme (MAOS)
• Familiar with UK MAA Design Approved Organisation Scheme (DAOS)
• Experience of Allied Quality Assurance Publications (AQAPs) and Joint Service Publications (JSPs)
• Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt)
• Understanding of training systems (Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT)) or equivalent
• Human Factors Training
• Familiarity with the use of system and software integrated development environmental tools (e.g. Atlassian toolset)
• Occurrence Investigator qualification
• Previous military experience is of benefit

Responsibilities:

• Act as the lead Software Quality Assurance representative for our UK Rotary and Mission Systems business within Systems Solutions
• Support and advise on all aspects of regulatory and third-party certifications associated with our presence on various sites
• Provide Software Quality Assurance oversight across our various programmes, including C6 Cyber, Merlin Mk2 helicopter mission system equipment, aviation platforms, Training Logistic Systems, and Integrated Warfare Systems and Sensors
• Provide Software Quality Assurance across the CADMID cycle where required
• Arrange, plan, and support audits from external customer, regulatory, and certification assessment bodies
• Engage with external industry, Government, and Military Quality Assurance staff
• Ensure activities are carried out in accordance with regulatory, statutory, company, and local plans, processes, and procedures
• Provide Software QA oversight to the delegated signatory for equipment release if requested
• Undertake Root Cause investigation and process improvement activities to drive improved performance
• Support supply chain monitoring and assessment, including subcontractor site audits and inspections, in collaboration with other functions

We are recruiting for our Systems Solutions team within our UK Rotary and Mission Systems business. The role is based at Havant or Gloucester and supports our activities across multiple programmes and aviation platforms. The position includes oversight of regulatory and third-party certifications, external audits, quality assurance engagement with industry, Government and Military stakeholders, and supply chain monitoring. This is a full-time, exempt role in our RMS UK Services department.
