Senior Software QA Engineer
Job Description
Salary: £69,000 - 109,000 per year
Requirements:- We require 4+ years of professional software quality assurance experience testing complex, production-grade applications in a structured QA environment.
- We require a bachelors degree or higher in Geoscience, Petroleum Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- We require strong domain expertise in rock physics, petrophysics, or geomechanics and related applications, with experience in the oil and gas industry.
- We require a comprehensive understanding of software development practices, including code inspections, manual testing, automated testing, functional requirements, design, usability, test plans, results, and defect management.
- We require proven experience with QA fundamentals, including test case design, defect lifecycle management, regression testing, exploratory testing, and test documentation.
- We require hands-on test automation experience, including writing and maintaining automated test cases using Selenium or equivalent frameworks.
- We require competence with Windows and Linux environments.
- We require strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- We require a self-motivated, collaborative approach and the ability to take initiative without direction.
- We design and execute test cases for application workflows, regression suites, and exploratory testing to identify defects.
- We create and maintain test cases with workflow steps, expected behavior, and validation criteria.
- We develop and maintain automated test cases to increase test coverage and accelerate release cycles.
- We work closely with developers to test fixes, validate new functionality, and ensure defects are thoroughly documented.
- We support release planning by estimating testing and documentation effort and advising on product improvements.
- We champion quality practices throughout the development lifecycle and contribute to agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
- We assist with secure architecture design reviews and support applications in preparation for security testing.
- We use AI-powered tools to accelerate test creation, improve defect detection, and enhance QA productivity.
- We communicate risks, quality metrics, and testing progress clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- We continuously evaluate and adopt emerging testing tools, frameworks, and AI-assisted QA methodologies.
- We mentor junior QA engineers through test reviews, paired testing, and knowledge-sharing.
