3rd Line Engineer

Salary: £40,000 - 49,000 per year

Requirements:

• Experience working within an MSP, ideally for several years
• Strong 3rd line infrastructure support experience, or a strong 2nd Line Engineer handling escalations and project work
• Good grounding across Microsoft infrastructure technologies
• Comfortable managing Microsoft 365 environments
• Experience with Azure, Entra ID and Modern Workplace technologies
• Solid knowledge of Windows Server and Active Directory
• Comfortable troubleshooting networking issues such as firewalls, VLANs, VPNs and routing
• Ability to use PowerShell to improve efficiency
• Exposure to macOS management, regulated environments, Jamf or Addigy is useful but not essential
• Comfortable speaking with customers, explaining work clearly and documenting changes properly

Responsibilities:

• Act as an escalation point for 1st and 2nd line teams
• Work on projects rather than spending all day on the service desk
• Take ownership of customer infrastructure and help improve environments
• Deliver Microsoft 365 and Azure projects
• Work with Entra ID, Intune, Autopilot and cloud infrastructure
• Troubleshoot Active Directory and Windows Server issues
• Resolve technical issues escalated through the support team
• Support customer networking environments including firewalls, switches and wireless infrastructure
• Work on VLANs, routing and VPNs
• Deploy and improve infrastructure
• Support Modern Workplace rollouts
• Make changes across Azure and Microsoft 365
• Help improve resilience and security across customer setups
• Communicate with customers and document changes clearly

We are a growing Manchester MSP offering a 3rd Line Engineer opportunity with a salary of £40,000 to £49,000, paid parking, training and certification support, pension and more. The role is office based with one day working from home and gives you the chance to focus more on projects, infrastructure and complex technical work while still supporting escalations. You will join a technical team working across Microsoft, cloud and networking environments, with exposure to SonicWall, Cisco, Meraki and UniFi.
