Requirements:
  • We require proven experience working as an Infrastructure Architect within complex enterprise environments.
  • We require experience supporting large-scale business or organisational transformation programmes.
  • We require strong knowledge of cloud technologies, including Azure, AWS, and/or Google Cloud Platform.
  • We require experience developing migration strategies, transformation roadmaps, and target-state architectures.
  • We require experience with infrastructure consolidation, platform rationalisation, and service modernisation initiatives.
  • We require a strong understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, resilience, backup, and business continuity principles.
  • We require the ability to assess technical solutions against business requirements and strategic objectives.
  • We require strong architecture governance, documentation, and design assurance experience.
  • We require excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • We require experience working across multiple technical disciplines, including infrastructure, networking, cloud, identity, and workplace technologies.
  • We require active SC clearance with the Home Office and NPPV3 clearance.
Responsibilities:
  • We will develop and maintain the infrastructure architecture strategy supporting the Target Operating Model.
  • We will define the future-state infrastructure landscape across cloud, hosting, networking, end-user computing, identity, storage, and platform services.
  • We will ensure infrastructure architecture aligns with enterprise architecture principles, business objectives, and programme outcomes.
  • We will provide strategic architectural guidance throughout the transformation lifecycle.
  • We will work closely with programme teams to support the integration of multiple organisations into the target environment.
  • We will assess current-state infrastructure landscapes and identify opportunities for consolidation, optimisation, and standardisation.
  • We will support infrastructure transformation planning and migration activities.
  • We will ensure business continuity and operational stability throughout transition and implementation phases.
  • We will produce high-level and detailed infrastructure designs.
  • We will develop infrastructure standards, architectural patterns, and reference architectures.
  • We will review and assure solution designs delivered by internal teams, suppliers, and technical partners.
  • We will ensure designs meet security, availability, resilience, performance, and operational support requirements.
  • We will provide architecture governance and technical assurance across the programme.
  • We will define architectural requirements for hosting, connectivity, workplace technology, and platform services.
  • We will ensure infrastructure services support future operational and service management requirements.
  • We will align infrastructure architecture with service integration and operational readiness objectives.
  • We will support the successful adoption of shared platforms and infrastructure services.
  • We will define cloud adoption strategies and migration approaches where appropriate.
  • We will identify opportunities to modernise legacy infrastructure and improve operational efficiency.
  • We will promote infrastructure automation, Infrastructure as Code, and cloud-native design principles.
  • We will support the development of scalable and future-ready infrastructure capabilities.
  • We will ensure infrastructure solutions comply with security standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • We will work closely with cyber security teams to embed secure-by-design principles.
  • We will support risk assessments, architecture reviews, and technical governance activities.
  • We will ensure solutions meet resilience, disaster recovery, backup, business continuity, and high-availability requirements.
  • We will collaborate with business stakeholders, technical teams, service providers, and programme leadership.
  • We will translate complex technical concepts into clear and understandable business language.
  • We will facilitate design workshops, architecture reviews, and stakeholder discussions.
  • We will support informed decision-making through robust architectural recommendations and assessments.
  • We will work closely with cloud providers, infrastructure suppliers, and technology partners.
  • We will ensure third-party solutions align with strategic architecture principles and target-state designs.
  • We will support technical governance across complex multi-vendor environments.
  • We will manage architecture dependencies associated with supplier-delivered services.

We are delivering a major organisational transformation programme that brings multiple organisations, business units, and user communities together under a unified Target Operating Model. This is a remote contract role, with 98% remote working and very occasional travel to London or Manchester. The assignment runs until 30 June 2027, and we are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Architect to help define, design, and assure a secure, resilient, and scalable future-state infrastructure landscape aligned to long-term business objectives.
