Junior SOC Analyst
Job Description
Salary: £25,000 - 28,000 per year
Requirements:- We are looking for someone at the very beginning of their Cyber Security career with the right technical foundations, curiosity, and enthusiasm to learn.
- You may have recently completed, or currently be studying towards, a degree or Open University course in Cyber Security, Computing, or a related subject.
- You may have studied AZ-900 or another Microsoft certification.
- You may have completed CCNA or networking studies.
- You may have undertaken Fortinet training.
- You may have studied CompTIA Security+ or Network+.
- You may have other recognised Cyber Security training.
- You may have built your knowledge through home labs, practical projects, and independent study.
- Some previous IT, MSP, MSSP, or SOC experience would be useful.
- Exposure to Microsoft Sentinel, another SIEM platform, or Microsoft Defender would be a bonus.
- You should be fascinated by Cyber Security and Security Operations.
- You should enjoy investigating problems and understanding why something has happened.
- You should be naturally curious and ask questions.
- You should have a good basic understanding of IT, networking, and security.
- You should be able to explain technical information clearly.
- You should be methodical and pay attention to detail.
- You should be willing to learn from more experienced members of the team.
- You should have already taken steps towards developing a career in Cyber Security.
- You should want to build a long-term career within a SOC environment.
- We will have you join an established team of around 15 people and work alongside the SOC Lead and experienced security professionals supporting customers across a variety of industries.
- We will have you learn from the team and develop the skills needed to become a fully-fledged SOC Analyst.
- We will have you monitor and review security alerts.
- We will have you learn how to distinguish genuine threats from false positives.
- We will have you investigate potential security incidents.
- We will have you understand logs and identify unusual activity.
- We will have you work with SIEM and security monitoring technologies.
- We will have you learn Microsoft Sentinel and the wider Microsoft security stack.
- We will have you understand when incidents need to be escalated.
- We will have you support security reporting and documentation.
- We will have you develop your knowledge of incident response.
- We will have you work alongside experienced analysts and engineers on real customer environments.
- We may occasionally require flexibility outside normal working hours when needed.

We are a growing technology consultancy with an established Security Operations team. This is an entry-level Cyber Security opportunity offering a salary of £25,000 to £28,000 DOE, working Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.30pm, on a remote basis for UK-based candidates. We actively support training and professional development, including certifications such as AZ-900, SC-200, and CompTIA Security+. Our aim is to develop the successful candidate into a fully-fledged SOC Analyst, with opportunities to broaden technically into security engineering over time. We welcome candidates from a wide range of backgrounds and want to understand how you have already developed your knowledge, whether through a degree, certifications, home labs, Microsoft Learn, networking study, practical Cyber Security exercises, or something you have built yourself.
