Job Description
Salary: £45,000 - 55,000 per year
Requirements:- We require a masters degree in Computer Science, Software Development, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- We require a demonstrable track record in software design, implementation, and validation, with more than 3 years of professional experience.
- We require proficiency in Python.
- We require proficiency in version control systems such as Git.
- We require strong self-motivation and the ability to drive development work independently.
- We require excellent oral and written communication skills.
- We require the ability to collaborate effectively with researchers, data scientists, engineers, and domain experts, translating requirements into working software across multiple concurrent projects.
- We would prefer experience with geospatial libraries and tools such as GDAL and QGIS.
- We would prefer experience with structured SQL and/or unstructured MongoDB databases.
- We would prefer experience with Python-based deep learning libraries such as TensorFlow and PyTorch.
- We would prefer experience programming in other languages such as C++, JavaScript, or CSS.
- We would prefer experience with Amazon Web Services or similar cloud platforms.
- We would prefer experience working in an Agile environment using tools such as JIRA or Trello.
- We would prefer a driving licence that permits driving within the UK.
- We require at least 3 years of experience in Software Development or Software Engineering.
- We require the right to work in the United Kingdom.
- We require the ability to work on-site in Lincoln.
- We design, develop, validate, and deploy software across a range of agri-tech projects, contributing components as required.
- We create software for data collection prototypes and applications for data annotation.
- We ensure data integrity by maintaining data storage systems, developing cloud-based data processing pipelines, and performing regular data cleaning and validation.
- We present insightful results clearly and scientifically through presentations, reports, and technical papers.
- We keep up to date with developments in software development and computer vision, with emphasis on agri-tech applications.
- We represent B-hive Innovations at external events such as conferences and trade shows, and help communicate project results to peers and members of the agricultural industry, including farmers.
- We deliver software in line with milestones and project deliverables.
- We work closely with researchers, engineers, data scientists, and domain experts to scope, prioritise, and deliver software solutions.
- We translate loosely defined or evolving requirements into practical solutions.
- We disseminate progress and results internally, in external project meetings, and at conferences, trade shows, or other events.
- We follow health and safety standards and company policies.
- We attend monthly reviews and any training or development required to enhance our skills and meet business needs.
- We carry out any other duties that may reasonably be requested and treat colleagues fairly, without bias, and with respect.

We are recruiting a full-time Software Developer to join our team in Lincoln, Lincolnshire, UK for a 24-month contract with the potential to become permanent.
