Test Engineer
Job Description
Salary: £38,500 - 48,500 per year
Requirements:- Solid understanding of the software testing life cycle (STLC) and software development life cycle (SDLC)
- Knowledge of functional, regression, integration, smoke, and exploratory testing
- Experience executing test cases, reporting bugs, and verifying fixes
- Ability to identify edge cases and test beyond the happy path
- Exposure to writing or editing automated test scripts in tools such as Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress
- Familiarity with scripting languages used in test automation, such as Java, Python, or JavaScript
- Ability to write clear, reproducible bug reports and test documentation
- Basic experience with version control systems such as Git
- Experience running or monitoring automated tests in CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or GitLab CI is desirable
- Ability to break down requirements and identify ambiguous or missing information is desirable
- Hands-on experience with tools such as JIRA, XRAY, TestRail, Zephyr, BrowserStack, or Postman is desirable
- Commitment to delivering high-quality software through thorough and meticulous testing
- Strong collaboration skills for working with developers, QA team members, and stakeholders
- Analytical mindset with critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to stay updated with the latest testing trends, tools, and methodologies
- Execute functional, regression, and integration test cases as directed by senior QA team members
- Log and verify bugs, maintain accurate test execution records, and follow predefined test plans
- Escalate unclear requirements or test scenarios
- Assist in writing and maintaining manual test cases under senior guidance
- Contribute to updating regression test suites based on new features or bug fixes
- Maintain and update existing automated test scripts as directed
- Learn and apply automation tools and scripting languages with support from senior QA team members
- Execute automated test suites and report results
- Reproduce and document bugs clearly, including logs, screenshots, and steps to reproduce
- Work with developers to clarify defects and retest once resolved
- Use existing test environments for test execution and raise issues when environments are unstable or misconfigured
- Help generate or request test data as needed
- Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and QA-related discussions
- Learn QA best practices, tools, and processes from Principal and Senior QA Engineers
- Ask questions and seek clarity to improve testing effectiveness and technical knowledge

We are LCCC, and we are hiring a permanent QA Engineer based in Birmingham. This is a 37.5-hour role with a salary of circa £45,000 depending on experience. We offer flexible working, including attendance in the office two days per week and a variety of flexible work patterns subject to line manager discretion, such as a compressed 9-day fortnight. Reporting to our Software Engineering Manager, you will work closely with our Principal and Senior QA Engineers, development teams, and other stakeholders to help ensure the quality and reliability of our software systems and applications.
