Senior Software Engineer, Applied Innovation

Salary: £28,000 - 51,000 per year

Requirements:

• Proficient in designing, building, testing, and maintaining modern software applications.
• Experience applying development best practices and patterns related to security, scalability, and performance.
• Experience contributing to technical decisions and direction in a collaborative team environment, including architecture, estimation, product planning, and user story or requirement creation.
• Experience designing and developing across multiple layers of an application.
• Experience mentoring junior team members.
• Exposure to modern AI-driven development tools and techniques.
• Experience leading features and projects in a team environment, as well as working independently and autonomously.
• Good communication skills, with the ability to communicate issues to technical and non-technical people and engage stakeholders.
• Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery techniques.
• Experience debugging and troubleshooting live applications.
• Active participation in knowledge sharing activities within the team and with wider non-technical audiences.
• Experience with multiple programming languages, data storage technologies, and AI tools.
• Experience balancing technical dependencies with user needs and commercial constraints.
• Knowledge of public cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure, including SaaS and PaaS offerings.
• Experience researching novel or new technologies and making recommendations for their use.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with customers and colleagues to identify, prototype, and deliver high-impact software solutions.
• Combine hands-on engineering with applied research and development.
• Rapidly explore emerging technologies, assess their practical value, and turn promising ideas into working products and prototypes.
• Share technical recommendations based on research and experimentation.
• Take initiative, work autonomously, and make sound technical judgments with limited direction.
• Communicate findings clearly and help customers and teams understand the opportunities and trade-offs of new approaches.
• Apply technical insights to real-world problems.
• Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines.

• Support others as they take on new technical challenges.
