Senior Security Analyst
Job Description
Salary: £55,486 - 60,898 per year
Requirements:- We will consider applications that clearly evidence the minimum shortlisting criteria for this Senior Security Analyst role.
- We are looking for a motivated cyber professional with the ability to strengthen operational security and support risk reduction across a hybrid cloud and on-premises environment.
- You should be able to triage and investigate security alerts, support incident response, operate vulnerability management processes, and translate threat intelligence into practical defences.
- You will need to work effectively with IT colleagues, suppliers, and partner teams, and provide specialist guidance, coaching, and support.
- You should be able to prepare clear security reporting, gather evidence for audits, and contribute to policy, standards, and operating procedure development.
- We will rely on you to strengthen our cyber resilience across our hybrid cloud and on-premises environment.
- You will proactively monitor security, triage and investigate alerts, and support coordinated incident response activities.
- You will operate our vulnerability management processes and help reduce exposure windows across critical systems.
- You will translate threat intelligence into actionable defences and contribute to improving detection content and security controls.
- You will work closely with IT colleagues and suppliers to address risks, gather evidence for audits, and produce clear reporting on security posture and emerging trends.
- You will provide specialist guidance, coaching, and support to colleagues across IT&D and partner teams.
- You will contribute to improving incident response readiness through playbooks, scenario testing, and lessons learned.
- You will help uplift monitoring coverage and the effectiveness of SIEM, EDR, and NDR tooling through tuning and detection improvements.
- You will support supplier assurance processes, especially for cloud and SaaS services.

We are Surrey County Council, recruiting a Senior Security Analyst to join our fantastic team based at Woodhatch Place in Reigate. We offer a hybrid working model with a minimum of two office days per week. The role starts at £55,486 per annum for 36 hours per week.
