Operational Software Engineer

Salary: £42,500 - 70,500 per year

Requirements:

• We are looking for experienced software engineers with skills and experience in several of the areas listed, as well as the ability to lead technical projects.
• We are ideally looking for a candidate with an active Security Clearance, although we will consider sponsoring new clearances for candidates who meet our technical requirements.
• We need strong technical expertise, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering robust, dependable solutions.
• We are looking for full-stack developers who can move between front-end design and embedded platform development.
• We work primarily with Python, and strong understanding of C, C++, Kotlin, JavaScript, and Rust will fit well.
• Strong fundamentals in Radio Frequency communications and a desire to learn more are desirable.
• Experience leading a team of developers through a complete project lifecycle, including requirements capture, design review, implementation, and assurance, is desirable.
• Commitment to code correctness and quality assurance through static analysis, code review, automated testing, and continuous integration is desirable.
• Comfort operating under limited guidelines and requirements is desirable.
• Hands-on experience targeting FPGA and Software-Defined Radios, and knowledge of traditional telecommunications and satellite communications systems, is desirable.
• Demonstrable Android development experience, native or multiplatform, is desirable.
• Design, development, and maintenance of live micro-service platforms is desirable.

Responsibilities:

• Design new clean-slate products with complete autonomy over architecture.
• Add new capabilities to, or replace core components of, existing products.
• Build quick prototypes to confirm the feasibility of proposed technical approaches and iterate until they meet requirements.
• Work hands-on in the day-to-day delivery of projects, typically alongside one or two colleagues.
• Help unlock the potential of junior colleagues by encouraging idiomatic code, demonstrating engineering rigour, and sharing knowledge.
• Help drive engineering processes to maintain code quality while balancing realistic delivery timescales and client requirements.
