Senior Java AWS Developer

Salary: £70,000 - 100,000 per year

Requirements:

• 7+ years of hands-on Java development experience, including Spring Boot and enterprise front-end tools such as AngularJS, TypeScript, and Node.js
• Deep experience deploying to AWS services including ECR, ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, SQS, Step Functions, and Apigee
• Proficiency with Karate, Gherkin, Cypress, Jest, Maven, Docker, SonarQube, and Fortify on Demand
• Strong knowledge of Groovy, Bash, CloudFormation, and Jenkins
• AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional, or higher, is expected
• Solid understanding of the SDLC, secure coding practices, and Agile delivery
• ITIL Certification is desirable
• Experience with user-centred design and prototyping methods is desirable

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and deploy reusable, secure code using Test-Driven Development (TDD) principles
• Deploy and manage applications across native AWS services including ECS, S3, Lambda, SQS, and Step Functions
• Maintain, fault-find, and enhance production infrastructure and service components
• Build and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, Jenkins, Groovy, and CloudFormation
• Provide L3 application support, including rotating 24/7 on-call coverage
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional Agile teams to support system integration and user-centred design

We are recruiting for 5 Senior Java Developers to join our team in Leeds on a hybrid basis, with 3 days per week on-site. This is a full-time, permanent role with an immediate start preferred for candidates on a 1-week notice period or available to join immediately. We offer an open, market-competitive salary of £70,000 to £100,000. This role supports mission-critical enterprise systems in an Agile environment and includes Level 3 operational and out-of-hours on-call support. Candidates must have full, existing UK Right to Work, as no sponsorship is available.
